Every month in New Bern is one full of fun events, and February is no exception! Here are three things to look forward to in New Bern during this sweet, short month:

Good, Clean, Sweet Fun

New Bern Galentines Day

Gather your favorite gals for a night out at Improv-a-Thon!

Sometimes the most fun is when you grab a bunch of girlfriends for a ladies’ night out on Galentine’s Day! Improv-a-Thon is back, with the Walk-In Bathtub improv group, on Saturday, February 13. With the choice of five 45-minute shows, you will experience (somewhat) clean fun. I have been told the format resembles the show, “Whose Line Is It Anyway?,” which I adored. Okay, so how did they get this name? Suffice it to say the group got its feet wet at Live at City Laundry. Proceeds benefit New Bern Civic Theatre, with the sweet details here.

That’s a Sweet Story

Whether or not you have seen the show “Outlander,” you will truly enjoy this add-on tour at Tryon Palace. The tour takes you back in time to the 1770s, presenting the Crown’s side of the story. During the tour, you will learn more about the actions of North Carolina’s citizens. You will likely walk away understanding both sides, as a loyalist or a patriot. The tour is set for Sunday, February 21, 9:15 am. Cost is $15.

Bowled Over with Sweet Generosity

The residents of New Bern always show up to support our community, and one of those times is at Empty Bowls. This event is a wonderful partnership between a variety of organizations, businesses, restaurants and potters, with proceeds benefitting anti-hunger and arts programs. This year’s date is set for Thursday, February 25, 11 am – 2 pm, at Temple Church. For the cost of $30, you will receive a handcrafted bowl or other item, along with a $5 coupon to use at one of the participating restaurants.

Our city is a sweet place to live, to work or to visit.  One warning: if you are just visiting, you may likely fall in love with the place!
