West New Bern is being developed by Weyerhaeuser, one of the world’s largest private owners of timberlands.
Weyerhaeuser is proud to serve as the developer of West New Bern. Weyerhaeuser Company, one of the world’s largest private owners of timberlands, began operations in 1900. We own or control approximately 10.4 million acres of timberlands in the United States, as well as additional public timberlands managed under long-term licenses in Canada. Weyerhaeuser has been a global leader in sustainability for more than a century and manages 100 percent of its timberlands on a fully sustainable basis in compliance with internationally recognized sustainable forestry standards. We are also one of the largest manufacturers of wood products in North America and operate additional business lines around product distribution, climate solutions, real estate, energy and natural resources, among others. Our company is a real estate investment trust. In 2024, we generated $7.1 billion in net sales and employed approximately 9,400 people who serve customers worldwide.
The company has a significant presence in North Carolina and the local area. As one of the area’s larger employers, Weyerhaeuser owns close to 44,000 timberland acres locally and over 634,800 acres in North Carolina. The New Bern location is important to us, as we have developed five other master-planned communities in the area.
